Professional DevelopmentOn March 6, Trustees from across Nevada participated in a valuable Professional Development Day focused on key governance and financial topics essential for effective leadership. The sessions provided an in-depth understanding of Bargaining Units, including the recognition process and the distinctions between Bargaining Units, Employee Organizations, and Labor Organizations. Trustees also gained insights into Collective Bargaining Agreements, equipping them with knowledge to navigate contracts and labor negotiations effectively.

The day also emphasized Financial Management and Oversight, highlighting the collaborative process of budget adoption involving the Superintendent, CFO, staff, and community. Participants explored strategies for monitoring district finances and gained a deeper understanding of the annual external audit, which ensures transparency and compliance with local, state, and federal funding requirements. Beyond the informative sessions, Trustees had valuable networking opportunities, connecting with colleagues from across Nevada to share experiences and strengthen partnerships.
